Traffic and List Building – Part Three

Hi everybody.

After the 4 days break I did due my birthday, it’s time to get back to work and continue this series of posts. Today we’ll analyze the Article and Press Releases Marketing Strategies.

Alex Jeffreys did a great webinar regarding this topic and the information he shared with us is invaluable, but I promised myself to describe here in my blog the most common strategies for driving free traffic to our blogs and websites because this information is also aimed to those who don’t participate in Alex’s coaching program.

So, without further delays, let’s dive into the topic for today.

Article Marketing

Write and publish articles about our niche market is one of the most interesting strategies for driving traffic to our blog or website at the same time we create relationships with our readers.

If you are passionate about your niche and you can pass that passion to your writings, it will not be difficult to attract visitors to your blog or website. And we’re talking about targeted visitors; they come in because they’re interested and liked or found value in your articles.

Writing articles can bring a lot of traffic because we publish the articles in Article Directories and some of this directories have tons of traffic from visitors that are seeking for information or content for their own blogs and websites. Yes, you can publish in your own blog or website articles that are published in Article Directories, as far as you accomplish the Article directories rules for publishing. Usually you must refer that the content you’re displaying in your blog or website is from XYZ Article Directory and the name of the author. Sometimes you’re required to provide a link to the original article or at least to the Article directory.

When you write an article there are three aspects very important that you must consider:

The title: must raise interest on potential readers and, at the same time, must be keyword based. This means that the keyword you’re targeting (related with your niche, of course) should be in the title.

The body: it’s not easy to maintain a reader interested enough to get him reading all the article. If you know your subject and can demonstrate passion through your writing, it will easier. Anyway, remember to keep paragraphs short and leave white line between the paragraphs. This will increase the readability and also helps you get focused.

Signature: usually, at the end of your article you will include a signature. The signature can be used to say, in two or three lines, who you are, or you can use it like a call to action, namely, to tell your readers to visit your blog or website.

Usually, it’s also in the signature that you can include a link. This can be the link to your site and you can insert it implicitly by means of an anchor text, that is related with your niche and that will contribute as a backlink for that keyword, thus increasing the effect of your SEO strategies (we’ll talk about this in future posts).

To finish, remember that is not enough to write one article and expect a lot of traffic. Like any other method for free traffic, it requires work and time. Write at least one article everyday, with a good signature file, and with time traffic will flow.

If you cannot write your own articles, because you don’t like to write or you don’t have the time, you can always outsource this task and have tens of articles written by professionals, for an affordable price. Provide them the titles, the keywords and the general idea behind your articles.

Press Releases

Press Releases are not very different from articles although it have other meanings: to tell the world, by means of media directories and news sites, that you have something to share.

Usually a Press Release is related to an event that you must manage: you release an e-book, a coaching program, software, a prize that you won, something that you can create at least a little “buzz” around it. The style of writing is also a little bit different. With a Press Release you want to create some kind of excitement that brings people to your blog or site to see what is all about.

Both in Articles and in Press Releases you must create and, hopefully, rise some kind of interest in your readers. Tell them what you need in order that they feel intrigued or curious and always finish telling them that they can get more information in your site or blog. Use titles that rises interest, write for your readers and not for the search engines and include a signature file that links the article or the press release to your blog or website, so people realizes they can get more information in your blog or website.

If done consistently and persistently it will have an high payoff. Not only in traffic but also because you’ll becoming known as an “expert” and your readers will follow you in your blog but also will look and recommend (and sometimes use) your articles and press releases.

The techniques to write effective articles and press releases are simple but you must understand them very well. Soon I’ll make available in this blog a free manual about writing effectively in order to drive the most traffic you can. Stay tuned, or better, subscribe the newsletter in order to not miss the free resources that I’ll deliver here.

Cheers

Jorge
